Laser Therapy after Surgery

Some patients continue to experience symptoms and disability after lumbar spine surgery. A 2024 study involving 50 subjects with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome reported significantly improved pain and disability scores after engaging in three weeks of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) delivered three times weekly. These Improvements were recorded at one and six months post treatment.

Furthermore, laser therapy can be used on patients who have had a stroke. Up to 84% of patients experiencing paralysis on one side of their body after a stroke also have shoulder pain. A newly published study involving 44 of these patients found that engaging in nine high-intensity therapy sessions combined with exercise over three weeks was more effective for improving pain, function, and hand grip strength than doing conventional exercises alone.
