A new study recently published in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience suggests chiropractic care may positively affect people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), which is a precursor to Alzheimer's disease. Researchers divided 26 MCI patients into two groups and compared the electroencephalograms (EEGs) of the test group before, during, and after a chiropractic care intervention to those of the control group who did not receive the intervention. They found significant differences between the groups' EEGs.
"Comparison of the results obtained from chiropractic intervention and previous studies shows that chiropractic intervention can have a positive effect on MCI disease and using this method may slow down the progression of mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer's disease" the study authors wrote.
